I own a small computer company in Davis and specialize in building computer systems at a much lower cost than any company, such as dell, HP, Apple, or Alienware can provide. I will only take cash or paypal. I will not ship this computer. I do not keep all parts on hand. This price includes tax. If you pay via paypal there is a 3% added surcharge, which is what paypal charges me as a merchant.
This is a custom built Macintosh. Now that Apple uses standard PC hardware you no longer need to purchase only from apple in order to run OS X. The latest edition of Snow Leopard (10.6.4) will run on pretty much any modern Intel Core 2 Duo or Quad system. You can even dual-boot XP, Vista, or Windows 7 with Snow Leopard. Another advantage of a custom computer is that parts come with longer warranties at no additional cost.
This is a very fast Quad-Core system meant for any program that is extremely CPU/RAM intensive, or the most modern video games. By having so much RAM you can work with very very large files, which is ideal for musicians, architects, artists, or any digital design without waiting for your hard drive to read/write data.
Feel free to browse for a computer with similar specs on Apple’s website and compare prices. Apple charges $5649.00+tax for a slower system without adding in the Apple warranty costs. Every part is brand new and comes with a manufacturer’s warranty. If a part does fail I will help with the return and install the manufacturer’s replacement part free of charge. This computer is faster than any iMac or any Mac Pro that uses four cores and almost exactly comparable to the 8-core 2.27GHz 2009/2010 Mac Pro. Below is some benchmark data. You can run these programs on your current Mac and see the difference between your current system and this one.
Cinebench: (Rendering X CPU) My score: 20290 versus Mac Pro 2009 8-core 2.27 20049 (This is Chinebench R10, R11.5 is a score of 6.85)

If you will be using this for DJ’ing, ProTools, Logic, Garage Band, Digital Performer, or any other music programs then you can use the base video card. If you wish to use it with Final Cut Pro, CS4, Aftershock, or graphic intensive programs then you should upgrade the video card to one of the choices listed below, or contact me if you have a different video card in mind. All video cards listed support dual-monitors. CS4 and FCP themselves are not very graphics card demanding, but Motion and Aftershock, etc are, so you probably want to upgrade the video card.
This build uses the newest and fastest line of Intel Quad or Hex Cores, the i7 family. The Quad is overclocked from 2.66GHz stock, to 3.8GHz and the stock CPU fan upgraded to vastly superior fan to keep the CPU cool at its new speed. The improved fan allows this CPU to maintain normal temperatures to ensure that it will last for a typical CPU lifespan of 10+ years. Currently the included video card is a basic dual-monitor card.
The 12GBs of RAM are DDR3 run at 1333MHz at competitive timings of 8-8-8-24. The motherboard has 6 RAM slots total and supports up to 24GBs of DDR3 RAM.
The hard drive implements the fastest hard drive data transfer rate available as well as the NCQ technology which lets the hard drive intelligently rate the importance of tasks instead of simply going in order. The hard drives are split up between applications and data/scratch disks to increase program response time. The DVD Burner can burn Dual layer DVDs of up to 9.5GBs.
